Everyone needs to get serious about quality back up power and surge protection. I am quite often shocked to see ancient power strips that are for the garage or the trash at best being used with brand new electronic equipment during my visits to support home computer users with PC's and Macs. This unit has a couple of back up power outlets for your most important electronic items and surge protection for other items that you might want to charge or plug in on a regular basis. I have regularly used several for years in my home and workshop to protect everything I own in this area. This particular model is an excellent value for the price too!

The reputation & the quality of this product were the primary reasons I bought it from Staples. It was also on sale at the time, which was a $ bonus. It has the longest cord of any item of it's kind that I have ever owned, which is great as many others had cords that were too short & caused problems & required me to move either my computer, computer table/desk, or other electronics, etc. I have has power outages & surges, so I can attest to the fact that you need this type of protection for your major electronics, especially computers.

Why did they replace this unit with larger capacity when demands on usage has gone done
(ie. release of LED)..Smaller 400 doesn't include
powerchute, otherwise good option for PC
