I like the e-reader Nook Simple Touch

About Me Practical
Comments about NOOK Simple Touch Reader by Barnes & Noble:
I enjoy reading on the Nook Simple Touch. I will list the cons first. 1) Sometimes it is difficult to get it to respond to the touch. Need to experiment to find the right pressure to use to get the function you want. 2) If I were to get a different one I would get the one with Glowlight because then you can read it when you don't have other sources of light. On the plus side there are a lot of great features. I especially like being able to look of words easily. Also you can find words or phrases with a search feature so for instance if there is a character introduced several chapters previously you can find the text where they were first introduced. Also I am able to borrow books from my public library. The transfer is super fast. All in all I am happy I bought the Nook Simple Touch e-reader.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My husband loves it!
from Worcester, MA
My husband didn't want anything real technical. He only wanted something that he could read and download books on. This is exactly what he wanted and needed.

Its not a kindle. That is all I have to say about that. Get yourself a kindle. It is better than cheddar.
Love it! Much better than Kindle

I've used the kindle in the past. Then got the original nook. I loved it. I tried the kindle later (3rd gen) and was disappointed. I got the nook simple touch, and it is wonderful. It works with Ebooks from bn and online sources such as project Gutenberg. I love it, and will stick with Nook for years to come!
Great for reading

About Me Frequent Traveler, Student
This device is fantastic for reading. It has incredible battery life, well over a month of being left on as long as the WiFi is turned off so you can travel with it or use it for daily commuting without having to worry about having a charger with. It is extremely light weight and compact, it can be easily held and operated with just a couple of fingers. The e-ink is easy to read, even in daylight, and with the easily adjustable text size you can read while you take a walk. The only "draw back" is that it is just a reader, don't expect pictures, surfing, etc. It is a great READER. I have bought a bunch of them as gifts

About Me Frequent Traveler, Practical
I have the original Nook, which was not touch screen. I bought this one for my mother-in-law. The screen is the same size (I assume) but I think I'm just used the the whole thing being bigger because mine has the place at the bottom that you touch. But, for people that are not used to the older version, this version will be just as good to them.
I like the Kobo and Kindle better but...

About Me Frequent Traveler, Gearhead, Old Guy, Practical
I have a Kobo, wife has a Kindle. Both are thinner and easier to operate. Kobo is getting long in the tooth and needs to be recharged every week if it just sits and every 2nd day if used. pages turn slowly. I have over 100K books downloaded in the MOBI format. Kindle won't handle them. Nook was clearance priced, couldn't pass it up. Pages turn fast, battery is great and it is easy to navigate around in but the page turning buttons are not placed well and are not easy to use. The nook has a rounded back that is not as easy to hold as the Kobo or Kindle and it is heavy. It does have a card slot, unlike the Kindle so transferring books from the computer is easier. Because of its quick precise page turning and long battery life, it is now my reader of choice over the Kobo, but if I didn't have such a library of MOBI I would go for a cheap Kindle like my wife has.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love it. My husband bought it for me when I was sick and couldn't get out of bed and I had all the ebooks at my library at my fingertips. Couldn't have been a more perfect gift!
