Our PTA purchased about eight of these for teachers throughout our elementary school. They did not last the school year before one by one they started to die. After the first three I called the company, because the sharpeners were past Staples 30 day return policy. The company told me I could send them in for repair/replacement. I explained that our PTA budget did not have a line item to pay for packaging and shipping to return these items to the company. I asked if they would provide me with the materials and pre-paid shipping, I was told they would not. So PTA paid to mail back three sharpeners (about $15) and the company (Elmers) sent us back three new sharpeners, along with a bill for the return shipping! End result, all of these sharpeners died within the school year. I told the teachers to just throw them away after we had replaced three of them...and, yes, those died too. The company was so rude to me via e-mail that I actually printed off the correspondence and kept it in my purchase binder. I tried to call to see if there was someone with more civility and compassion, but I went to a voice mail...it was the person I was corresponding with via e-mail. EPIC FAIL! Now we only buy Staples brand sharpeners.

Works great for pencils made from recycled materials which are hard for normal sharpeners to do. Auto stop doesn't always work, but just listen for the sound to change.

Bought 2 of these units; they both worked amazingly well for about 3 months.. after that they both started to sharpen only on one side of the pencil, and twirling the pencil didn't help. Now to decide whether it's worth it to return under warranty, or just buy another brand and hope for the best.

Don't waste your money!

I bought this sharpener for my 4th graders to use in the classroom. The description said it was recommended for classroom use. We have used it for over a month now and it just eats the kids' pencils. Very disappointing!
