    I noticed over the last several years that even though the printer indicated I was out of ink, the toner cartridge still felt heavy. I looked on the internet and found a you tube video that shows how to move the edge of the cartridge and it would extend the toner life. I did it-- As it turned out, the cartridge was still over half full! Ever since I started doing that my toner costs have plummeted. Strongly recommend looking it up and only buying toner when the cartridge is really empty!

      Had I known how much colored ink this printer uses even when all I print is black, I would not have purchased the printer.

      Having to replace all 4 cartriges so often at such a high expense is not cost effective.

      You know everybody talks about too expensive, short life, deep pockets etc. They are all true. The printer is very good but the cartrige life are short and expensive. I use mine for my home office. Bottom line the printer is very good. What I do is, buy staples 100% rewards like duracel batteries, printer paper and things that I use everyday. I get the rewards back plus watch for the 20% or 25% of any items the store promotes and add that. When it comes down to changing the cartriges, I buy them with all that. I also bought a brand new LED HP monitor with the rewards. For a Business office that prints a lot would not recommend. For personal or home office is good and reliable.

      the ease of the Bother toner to replace is wonderful...it is clean and not messy. The life projection of the toner is not correct as the manufacturer states. I have my print on toner save mode and I still never get close to 1200 or 1400 prints. I average 900-1000.
