These cartridges are done although you can still see a lot of ink still in the cartridge. I am not sure if this is the ink cartridge or my printer doing this but I am leaning toward it being the cartridges. Discouraging but I am not ready to purchase a new printer just yet so I have just been living with it.

I am new to using this ink cartidge. So far it doesn't print well if you try to use the fast print setting. "Fast normal" print setting looks ok. I hope it lasts a while.

I have used the Brother LC41BK Black Ink Cartridge by Brother since my purchase (2006) of MFC-5840CN Brother a Faxing,Scan,and copy machine.The scanning and copies are great w/this ink. The finished product is clear and consistant till it needs replacement.I have never used a refill do to past problems with outher printers. When it is emty it IS emty. The pictures are good but not as perfect as I would like.I have also used the color ink cartridges LC41CL Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow with the same results.
