We haven't had our "new Brother" very long. But I'm a woman w/o much technical skill, and I'm finding this printer wonderful since we got something adjusted that was causing it to jam frequently.

I'm a self-employed writer/editor, so I use the printer frequently throughout the day.

So far, it's a 5-star operation AFTER we took it back to Staples and they showed me how the green edge at the BACK of the paper holder must be placed snugly against the paper supply.

What remains to be seen is the frequency with which I have to replace the toner. I've used about one ream of paper (am afraid to print on back sides for fear of jamming), and I'm already getting notice that toner needs replacing. On the old HP Inkjet, I was warned of need for replacement LONG before I was out of ink. We'll see how this one does.

Our 2 lap tops tied in wireless without a problem. Used the Brother app to connect to my ipad. Not bad for someone who will be 75 this month.

This printer is absolutely great! It is reliable, and the printing time is incredible. I like the capacity of paper the printer holds. Also the toner consumption isn't bad at all. I print a lot of shipping labels, blueprints, etc. and I am still using the same one I got when I barely bought the printer. The design is very durable except for the lid on the copy/scan part. It is very weak and almost feels as if a hard opening of the lid will break it. Other than that the printer is high quality. Really reccommend it!

Out of the box, the wireless did not work. To print from a phone you have to download an app and you aren't able to print directly from your phone. The files have to downloaded and then opened in their app. What a pain, and a waste of time. The cartridge it comes with (according to the service tech I spoke to) is only supposed to last a few hundred pages. And then they recommend you buy an upgraded ink cartridge that can print 1000's of pages. Great. So you drop 200 bucks on a printer, that you can barely use with your phone, have to spend hours on the phone with tech support just to get the wireless to work on your computer, and then just when you thought you were in the clear, you have to buy another super duper cartridge. I'd pass if I were you.

No more empty ink cartridges that stop all printing! I love this laser printer. It was easy to set up though, I had to call the Brother help desk to assist with scanning. The person was proficient, fast, easy to work with and sent me an email of what we had done. I will never go back to an inkjet printer. This printer does everything so fast: print, scan, copy and fax. Price is very affordable. I have not used the fax and probably won't. Also like that the printer goes into a 'deep sleep' mode when not in use, but switched on. Well worth every cent.
