I fought getting a laser printer due to the cost but I'm so glad that I finally decided to purchase the Brother printer. It has made my work life so much easier due to it's speed and efficiency. I've only had it for a short time but so far - it's performed exactly as promised. Would definitely recommend it to anyone !!

I've been using (and singing the praises of) Brother printers for years. This is the first printer that I've ever had stop working properly in less than one year. Called support and after almost 1 hour on the phone they let me know they couldn't resolve my problem and would have a higher level tech call me.

Tech called later that day to let me know he was calling about an issue that wasn't my machine. Tried calling back and get placed on hold so long I'm contemplating giving up. I DO NOT HAVE TIME to prove to you my machine is broken so you can replace it.

As many have reported, setup and learning curve is somewhat steep. Been happy once accomplished though and learning more and being impressed each day. Do need to follow directions and read the manual to learn the various functions. Will handle card stock and envelopes through manual feed but does not reverse print for numbered checks - need to use manual feed (to be tested) or reorder checks before putting in manual tray. Scanning through PaperPort works well and can be set easily by project or through default settings. Fine greyscale 150 dpi best size/output for most non color needs (not 300 dpi). All in all, very happy with purchase.

After several issues with this unit, the drum failed after 8 months. We were then informed by Brother that the warranty did not cover the drum - a 149.99 part. If you're a frequent printer, spend more money and buy a higher-end unit - we're sorry we've wasted $ on this one.

Great printer. We use it for our office and set it up with 5 computers. Set up was a breeze. Much better than our previous printer which was a samsung. A few of the negatives about the machine is the cost of the toner's and their life and it is not great at printing on envelopes. The envelope gets crumpled. Overall, a great product so far.

I have some trouble loading the printer package
with the Mac version 10.8.2. The Mac program stated that it could
not load the printer package program. However after much trial and
error, it finally worked only after I downloaded several software
updates from the brother website. Even after that I was unable to
load the printer package on the Mac version10.8.2. Other than that,
the printer works perfectly and prints absolutely perfect pictures
and clear documents.

Nice features for printing - doesn't use any color ink/toner if the document is true B/W. Unlike some others that always use a little color with black. This allows should be a good money saver over time.

One con - the machine is a bit noisy at startup in a confined space.
