Comments about Canon PC170 Personal Copier:
I had the PC420 which copied even when there was color on the original - this copier omits it all together - a bit disappointing
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is a perfect copier for simple everyday needs. By no means is it adequate for big jobs, but when you need a simple copy or just a few pages copied, this is a great little printer. It has absolutely no warm up time and has that copy ready is less than 20 seconds! It folds up nicely and is very compact. The fact that it uses toner and not ink makes the copy look very professional and it doesn't smear when wet. Our last copier was a PC160 and it was a workhorse for 8 years! You can't beat the quality for the price.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Time will tell...
By Church Secretary
This little copier is being used in a church, primarily by Sunday School teachers and other church members. It is not in a high volume environment. Most users make fewer than 10 copies at any time. The set up was easy and it is easy to operate, but copy time is very slow. The major concern is about the side trays. They seem very flimsy. Our old Canon desktop copier was like a tank and it worked for over 20 years. Only time will tell if this new one can stand up to the wear and tear of different users.
It is a good product

About Me Infrequent user
It does well copying most documents, but does poorly on forms with light colored lines. This was true even when I made it as dark as possible.
This product is GREAT!
About Me Heavy duty user
This is the best product I have found as far as portable and easy to use. The ink lasts a lot longer than small cartridges in printers. The handle makes it easy to take along for your copy needs. This is my 4th copier like this and will not use anything else. The last one I used everyday for 5 years until it stopped working and just got another one till the old one gets repaired.
Very Good Copier

This is a great little printer for people who just want to make a copy or two once in a while. I would not have it if I ran a business and had lots copies to make. It is not super fast, but it's fast enough for me for personal use. The copying quality is very good and there are adjustments if your copy comes out too light or too dark. It is solid and well-made. I owned the Canon PC330 before this. It finally died after 13 years. I never had a problem with it. So I was happy to get a similar copier and hope it lasts just as long.

great value - all of the same qualities for much more expensive copiers - would recomment this unit to all my friends
Serves the purpose
from Bath, NY
In today's world it's good practice to keep copies of various transactions and this copier serves that purpose without going out to find a place to copy paperwork.

We bought the updated version as our "ancient" model's plastic top tore away and became detached from the mechanism that slides it back and forth. Perhaps this could have been replaced? Otherwise our old Cannon copy machine works but must hold the lid/cover in place to make copies which is awkward to do. We use it almost daily and it was easier to buy a new one instead of possibly waiting for the old model (20 years old at least) to be repaired. [...]
