I am an active volunteer and find I print many b/w documents. I found that the two-pack of XL Black Canon ink gives me the black ink that I need without having to buy the 5 or 6 pack with all the colors. I shopped around and found that the Staples price was better than a few other office stores. Some did not even carry this two pack.
I've had consistent good luck with Canon ink's quality.

I purchased this product since I already use the ink and it was a great deal if you bought the twin pack. The replacement of the ink tank is a very easy process on my Canon MG-6120. This is my second Canon printer and I am very satisfied with it. It is multifunction and works well. The colors are vibrant and all members of my family use this printer. I have not even scratched the surface yet on all the functions of this printer. Even if my Staples is out of the item, they will contact the nearest store to see if it is available there. I try to print as much as I can in black and white and definitely do not want to run out of the black.

I never have had a problem using OEM ink cartridges. I have had problems in the past using off brand ink. One bad ink cartridge eliminates any cost savings you might realize from using the off brand ink. I use my Canon printer for scanning mostly, but when I do print the OEM ink works great, and lasts a reasonable amount of time. I am able to use the cartridges until they are completely empty and will not print any longer. If I was printing more, I would probably use a different printer instead of the ink jet.

As stated, I don't do much 'heavy printing' by any means (at most 2-4 pages per day), but it seems like these cartridges are always needing to be replaced after about a month of use.
