Not worth it. Don't purchase just because it is affordable, better to spend a couple bucks more and get a stapler that is actually effective at what it should do. This stapler gets jammed each time I try to staple even 2 pages at a time. So the 20 pg capacity is not true. Maybe it'll work after the 4th, 5th attempt....
This is by far the worst stapler I have ever purchase. I have only had it for about six months, and it is already for the trash heap. The tray release button is so sensitive that you don't want to pick up the thing. You never know when it is going to go off and shoot out at you. I have had many Swingline staplers over the years and this one takes the cake on defective. I will not be purchasing any more Swingline items again. I have learned my lesson.
The first time I purchased this stapler I was very impressed with how easy and carefree it was to use. I went on vacation and somehow it was broken in my absence. I went back to the store and purchased another one because I was hooked. When that one broke where you have to press the load button every other use I decided to call the company. I was told that it has a lifetime warranty. I told her this was my second purchase and she apologized for the product failure. She immediately sent me out two new staplers at no cost. What excellent customer service and product representation from members of your company. I am forever a loyal and faithful customer and will make sure we use only Swingline staplers in my office and will wave your banner freely in conversation with friends and co-workers.
This product has spectacular grip and is wonderful to handle.
I find the Swingline SmoothGrip Stapler superior to what I have used in my 25 years as a secretary. It's name says it all ~ smooth grip. It handles like a charm and is one that co-workers want to borrow. It doesn't jam which is a major factor for me to highly recommend it!
This stapler: - Staples 20 sheets w/ease - Works consistently - Is very easy to use (takes very little pressure to staple - Staples securely - Has a rubbery coating that feels good in the hand and prevents slippage when stapling.
...when you get one that works.
Our office has had one of these staplers for over 6 months now, and recently we had to order a second one for another desk. The order arrived on time, but the first stapler had 2 major defects (the kind that make you wonder if they even picked it up when it was passing through Swingline Quality Control):
1) It wouldn't stay closed. After inserting staples, the spring hinge was so loose that the darn thing wouldn't stay closed. If you picked it up by the top, the whole unit would fall open. 2) The staples came out really loose. When stapling 2-3 sheets together, the stapler wouldn't depress all the way, and so the sharp ends of the staples would be left hovering over the back side of the paper instead of pressed securely into it. It's like the stapler thought we were trying to staple 10 sheets together instead of just 2.
So, we sent it back. Ordered (the same exact) one and it works like a charm.
Long story short, (if & when you get one that works) it's a great, functional stapler for any office space.
