Quill Council

We’ve tabulated the results from the recent survey querying Quill Council members about their break habits at work. Here’s what you had to say:

Quill Council members on break habits at work

50% of our members have a scheduled lunch break of an hour, while another 35% have 30 minutes to eat. Only 14 out of the 260 respondents say they take more than their allotted time for lunch, while about 50% use the full time they have. The rest usually cut their lunch break short.
We found that you are a devoted bunch, 70% of respondents say they work through lunch at least once a week, with about 20% doing so every day. 90% of the respondents don’t have a cafeteria in their office, which helps explain why nearly 50% eat lunch at their desks. 22% eat off-site, while 16% eat in a breakroom.
What activities do you perform during your lunch break? 28% work at their desk while 23% use the time to run errands. The book worms and social butterflies are about evenly split: 16% say they read during the break, while 14% like to socialize. Browsing the Internet was also a popular activity, while others make it home for various reasons. We even have a soap fan! One respondent watches All My Children during their break. And, believe it or not, there are even a few of you who use your lunch break to just eat lunch.

Thank you for taking part in this survey.

We would love to hear from you!
