Fun art, not fine art
from Austin TX
Comments about Crayola Colored Pencils; 50/Box:
The 50 pack of Crayola colored pencils gives you a great variety of colors, really everything you need to put color down on paper. These pencils are soft enough to blend, too, meaning you can layer different colors on top of each other to get a variety of great effects, including gradients and shading.
However, Crayola's pencils are too hard, with too little pigment, to achieve really intense color, and their hardness makes it difficult to get much color at all on the wrong kind of paper. You'll want to look to other pencil brands for real fine arts projects.
With that said, these are great for fun projects, and their relatively big barrels makes these pencils terrific for kid projects. Unlike other reviewers I do not find that Crayola pencils are prone to breakage. They are actually very durable and do well in pencil sharpeners.
