The students were to make what they wanted with their piece. It was not messy. They could change their minds and work with it differently. Most made snowmen, since it was white.

slight cracking can occur while drying, so wait until completely dry to paint or embellish, so you can fill in any small crevices.

my daughter made a crayfish model for her school project with it. also many other things with the 'leftovers'. the art teacher at school highly recommends it.

This is a fun product, it is soft, not crumbly or too messy, so if it gets in carpet, etc it can be removed easily. I prefer the white, because then the kids can color it (with markers) on their own the next day, which increases its fun. Overall, a great product for a rainy day, or bored kids waiting on mom to cook dinner!!
The ONLY con (and not really one) is that IF they didn't finish working with it, it dries pretty fast (which is great when you WANT it to dry) so they have to finish it in one sitting.

Kids love to get their hands in it. They can squeeze it, push it, roll it around. It's unlike coloring or gluing. My kids love creating all sorts of things (animals, picture frames, doll dishes/food, etc.) with Model Magic!

I bought this expecting it to be filled with small, individual packs that my son could use slowly over time. The small packs keep indefinitely until opened. I thought that 4/pack meant 4 colors per pack, because I had purchased it that way before. Please state clearly in the description that these are 4 extra-large packs, rather than multiple smaller packs.
