Matches all my other equipment

Comments about D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router:
I bought this router to extend the range of my wireless system in a fairly large 2 story house. The price was right and I already had one and it had been very dependable and fast. It is easy to set up if it is the ONLY router in the system, but the software instructions were unsatisfactory for setting it up as an extension to an existing network. Thank goodness there are some very knowledgeable people out on the net with step-by-step instructions on how to install this router as a secondary router on an existing network. Once I found that, it was simple and I'm up and running with great wireless coverage throughout my home.
Seems to running very well.

Powerful, Easy to Use Router

Good router replacement for Linksys. Lights on front of unit too bright...they light up an entire room at night. Otherwise, it is very easy to set up and use and increased surfing speed. Good security.
The setup directions are spot on.

I have been avoiding adding a wireless router for a long time due to the complicated setup process. This setup for this unit is very well thought out and easy to use. This unit was reasonably priced also.

The set up instructions were brief. How to change ID and password at a later date?

Less than meets the eye

I obtained this to replace a Netgear WGR614v7 router whose input Ethernet port failed. I need one that will reach the entire two-story house without requiring the sepaate LAN that I installed using two routers.Configuring the D-Link to my needs is accomplished through the router's bullt-in page-based interface either manually or with the "wizard." The latter doesn't allow as much flexibility as does configuring it manually. It took a while to figure out the logic of the interface, even with the DVD-based nanual, and after each page the configuration had to be updated. The page updates took more time than seemed reasonable, and on occasion appeared to hang up, although eventually an "page update completed" message arose. All that is acceptable, and initially the router met my expectations: a strong wireless signal reached from its location upstairs to a laptop downstairs on the other side of the house. My wireless-enabled printer also connects with it very well. HOWEVER, after about three days, that remote signal weakened to the point that it vanished. I had moved the router's location slightly, and it's possible that made the difference. However, multiple attempts at repositioniting both the router and the orientations of the three antennas did nothing more than allow a weak signal to be detected occasionally but not persistently. Discussion groups have suggesed replacing the antennas with more powerful ones. Rosewill and Hawking models have been suggested. It's either that, or revert to the two router-two LAN system, which works but has some operational disadvantages. All this said, I don't know that any router would meet my needs, but this one came with high expectations. I'd recommend it for use where the connected devices are closely located.

Horrible Product

This product sounded good. Product would not allow me to set it up at all. Tried using tech support online, no resolvable knowledge base articles. Reseting the product blew out my ethernet card. Went with netgear, what I had used before. No problems with install and setup.
