Although you can how purchase "generic" ink that a Dell printer/copier will use, Dell has made sure the printer will continue to give you a message that the ink cartridge needs replaced. For that and other reasons (poor customer support by Dell) I would not buy another Dell product. Very proprietary. On the other side of the issue, I've had the printer for years and it still works well.

I get clear, sharp colors on my documents that do not fade and are long lasting. I do not need to replace the color cartridge as quickly as with others. More than this, I can not ask.
