    I tried the regular ink, but the HD is so much better since it lasts longer and doesn't cost that much more. I do think the price is a little high, though.

      As I recall, neither the regular cartridge or the XL cartridge are marked with the contents amount (usually in ml's). Lack of marking makes it difficult for the consumer to know how much of a benefit they are getting by paying the extra money to purchase the extra capacity cartridge.I had to ask an employee to try to get some sort of idea whether to go with the extra capacity cartridge or not... and had to trust his opinion. As it turned out ,I believe he was right and it is worth the extra money. The cartridges seem to last more than twice as long for less than twice the price. I have never been disappointed with the quality of the Dell ink, but feel that all ink cartridges are overpriced... definitely a lot of profit in the item.
