I run a small business real estate related. This Epson scanner is a little workhorse. I just love it. I work with thousands of pages in documents and it just keeps on going and going. This is one of my better investments.

Very Capable Machine

Got this unit 4 days ago to replace an AIO not from Epson that was painfully slow at simplex scanning. What a remarkable difference! Throughput is dependent on host computer, as it blazes with a recent Mac Mini and is a little slower with a gen one G5 machine. Feed is relatively robust--800 pages of sometimes questionable paper and fewer than 5 misfeeds so far. I have worked well though a 4-year backlog of scanning quickly and shouldn't fall behind again.

Versatile quick scanner

I used one of these in my office for two years and liked it so much I bought one for home. I've had a few feed problems but there is usually a good reason such as thin sheets or punched holes that stick. The software could be a little more user friendly and flexible, but it gets the job done well. I dropped to 4 stars because the paper guide is not long enough to always keep the paper straight while scanning, and the receiving tray does not always keep the paper from falling out. Scanning quality is flexible and excellent with several resolutions and output formats to choose from. The included OCR software works well. I also scan photos and the resolution and color accuracy is good. I would buy another!

I've been using a flat bed scanner for the last five or so years and been somewhat happy,but now I am totally amazed at how efficiently the new Pro- GT-s50 copies single and multiple pages. As I learn each new feature I am encouraged to experiment with both the program and the hardware because I know I am finally getting a hold on my record keeping and eliminating useless paperwork in my filing cabinets. Great Scanner

This is a great Scanner, we scan 150 to 200 pages a day of varius paper types and it really works great. We have had a rough worker breat the paper feed part which was hard to fix.

GT-S50 Does not age well

I have had a GT-S50 for about a year now. After about 6 months the scanner started to have problems. It stopped pulling all of the pages through. I would have to take the pages out and start again. Then it started pulling some of the pages through at an angle and wrinkling them. It doesn't do it all the time but often enough it makes it hard to scan a pile of pages. Then it started turning up the corner on some of the pages, sometimes the right side sometimes the left side. It worked very well when new. For the first 6 months I would have recommended this scanner to everyone.

The GT-550 has many excellent features. Scanning directly to a specific folder on the computer. The scanning and converting to pdf's is slower than I expected. Other features which I am learning to use is the Presto Biz card software. It sounds interesting. I have not yet used it.

Good Scanner

I love this scanner, it makes keeping copies of reciepts a breeze, my only problem is the document carrier tends to jam and hang up one half of the carrier in the machine, why I dont know it still handles flimsy reciepts just great.

Doesn't play well with others

The software that comes with this product is not easy to install, does not work well with others, and has little or no tech support to help you through the installation process. My other scanner that I purchased from another company was cheaper and in my opinion much better at setup, easier to operate but with a slightly smaller capacity of feed pages.

Great scanner!

This is a wonderful scanner. It's footprint is small and it's easy to store. The feeder is nearly flawless and the end product looks great. I have scanned up to 600 pages in a day and it generally is quite happy. Occasionally, it's cranky and grabs two pages at once but fanning the pages tends to reduce the possibility. And it is FAST FAST FAST!!! I haven't tried to scan anything but standard sized paper but that's enough for me. I've scanned documents up to 50 pages without a hiccup. Buy it. You won't be unhappy and you'll ask how you ever got along without it.
