After retiring dot matrix printers that I have used since 1977. I finally got a Laser Printer, around 2000. Why so late? Because Laser Printers are new and very expensive > 200K$$$'s. I finally get one, the price drop's a bit, less than >10K$$$'s. Okay! They work, but they are more expensive than the dot matrix printers, supplies, etc (Back & Forth: XP to Se to ME, and back: count the pages used on the drum). The dot matrix printers with the 24 pin print head deliver quality font, and it is, and had to be, a lot quieter.
So There.... it works... and it's not a Laser.

I have had two LQ570 and now have two LQ590 Impact printers. They are by far the best and longest lasting printers I have ever owned. Do not hesitate to buy. You will never be disappointed.

This has been a good printer so far. The paper settings were difficult to figure out using the instructions. Trial and error worked for me. You can feed paper and forms many different ways.
Pretty fast for a dot matrix. Good quality print.

We have bought maybe 8 of these through out the years. When new it prints perfectly, after about 6 months the printing on the left side is faint, from the middle of the page to the right it is okay.
So on an 80 column printing, maybe columns 1-25 become faint & light, columns 26-80 remain okay. Changing ribbon does not improve it.

Used every day for years. It simply goes and goes. Outlasts other printers 10x. We replace the printhead every 2 years when it wears out.

Great printer. We needed to replace the broken and antiquated LQ-510. No drivers or installation needed(maybe it uses the same driver as the LQ510).

I purchased this printer, July 1991, and I can tell you, I LOVE MY PRINTER !! I would never ever change it for a printer that has cartridges! I recently went to purchase a USB cable for it, and the manager wanted to purchase it from me. He said, it looked like I had just taken it out of the box. I take very good care of it, and put a plastic cover on it, everynight when I shut off my pc.
