While Epson had good products, this printer and its cartridges are not a good fit for anyone who has school age children who actually do school work. I am constantly replacing the cartridges

Although the ink cartridges are narrow, the ink supply for each cartridge does last a decent amount of time if you are not doing intensive color work.

This printer was suggested to me by Staples employee, however, they didn't tell me how often the cartridges would need replacing.

On christmas season we printed about 50 cards and had to use almost 3 cartridges of each color.

Prior to this printer, I had a Brother printer before this one (the Epson brand XP- 300). Although, I do think the Brother cartridges gave a longer lasting use-the cartridges were more expensive. So overall, the Epson XP-300 is a lower cost printer and the cartidges are a likewise comparison. You get what you pay for! This Epson XP-300 printer and accompanying cartridges are worth the money that you invest. I just wish I had spent a little more on another Brother-the ink lasted longer even though it cost a little more!

Well what can I say, I recently purchased my Epson 2540 and I am very pleased. It scans, copies, prints and FAXes as well as being wireless. We can print from anywhere in the house which makes it nice for a family of 4 with as many as 8 devices able to be connected wirelessly. Only trick is knowing which paper is in it at the present time should you need to print something other than plane white stock. The Ink lasts a long time and Gives excellent pictures, graphics and text. I have not tried the extended life ink yet but I will soon.
