THIS IS HORRIBLE! Its was almost impossible to put together. Directions did not help AT ALL, I do not recommend this to anyone. I needed it for a work meeting and was disappointed. Thank God I didn't wait to put it together there, because we wouldn't have been able to use it. Doesn't give a clear description of where to put the chalk and pad holder. Yeah....its light but its also a piece of junk.
I just spent over an hour doing a job that should have taken 10-15 minutes. The problem was that the picture in the instructions does NOT match the actual product. See Figure B. The picture shows a tapered center leg --- it is not. It has a square end. The two side legs are shown as "square ends" --- they are tapered! It is very frustrating to carefully follow instructions which are flawed. I do recommended this product.....hoping that the instructions might be fixed. I am a Trustee of a NYC landmark home - I purchased the easel as a small gift for the home.
If you like puzzles, buy this easel. The diagrams with the instructions are just plain inaccurate. You have to figure this one out yourself. Not impossible, but Staples should let the manufacturer know that their instructions stink.
Once you figure out how to assemble it on your own, it looks nice. But it really isn't easily portable without partially disassembling, and it doesn't fold up for compact storage. I'm taking mine back for one that telescopes. If looks matter more to you than easy transport and compact storage, and you like puzzles, then go for it.

Good product with bad directions
Once this was put together, it worked fine. Unfortunately, it took far longer than it should have to construct because the directions were ambiguous. I had to do it wrong before I could figure out how to do it right. It is not rocket science so many could probably put it together with no directions, but it did not have to be so difficult.
