About Me Budget Shopper
Comments about Hirsh Industries 18 Deep Mobile File Cabinet; Black:
this cabinet works well for what our office applys to it. If we had one complaint it would be that the wheels need to lock. Our cabinet stands in a way that it's not in a corner or against a wall,so if it gets bumped it moves

About Me Midrange Shopper
Bought this as a budget file solution in my home office area. Primary use is for storage of household files (bills, tax forms, school forms etc). I find that when the top drawer is fully loaded and pulled out the cabinet can easily tip over. Pull both drawers out and it's a definite tip. The actual usable drawer space is only about 3/4 of the full depth. The drawers don't extend fully and if the drawer is loaded you can't access the back files. Another issue is that the drawer is very narrow and files do not slide freely if they have more than a few papers. Further, using pocket type file folders makes the file almost completely immobile. As has been mentioned in previous reviews, the lack of locks on the casters means that you have to hold the unit every time you open it and once the drawers are loaded it's very hard to do so. I would return this if my husband hadn't already destroyed the box ;)
OK for Light Filing

Works OK for lighter personal or office work. Roll about feature is helpful. Would not use for frequent use because of light construction. Load carefully with files so that cabinet does not tip over. OK for the money spent.
Great delivery, lousy product & service
By Larry

File cabinet was ordered on 12/07/12 and was delivered on 12/10/12 - great delivery service. I opened the box and the screws for the wheels were missing. Called Customer Service about the missing parts - they don't stock replacement or missing parts - maybe they should. The person asked me if I wanted them to send out a replacement - that would be a gamble - what would be missing on the replacemnt. We decided on a refund - simple, right - NO. Their billing system calculates sales tax differently than the store. Had to explain the error to the person on the phone. Sounds like they need to tweek their billing system. The whole experience was very disappointing - I guess they should stick to selling paper and pens. They day I ordered the file cabinet at the store, I waited over 10 minutes before a sales person came into sight.
very cheap

I bought the file cabinet for tax records, and to place a small printer on top of it. I needed the wheel to move it close to the desk during tax season. I serious problem is once you open the top drawer, (empty) you can't close it. The top drawer hits the bottom drawer, and will not close. I don't know if a replacement for it would be any better. They just seem poorly made. The color is nice, the lock system is a joke. You can wiggle the drawer to open them. But I did not buy it for the lock.
Great File Cabinet!

This file cabinet is a great help in filing and storing documents and it's on wheels so it's easy to move around. It came assembled and just the wheels had to be attached. The drawers slide open easily and it fits nicely in a tight spot. I've bought this item more than once and would recommend it to a friend.

Disappointed on quality
By The Budget Shopper

Was eager to get this assembled but when I got it out of the box, I immediately noticed two penny-sized blemishes on the bottom cabinet. If it was a darker color, it might not be noticeable BUT since it has a Metallic Silver finish, the glare of the light enhances(in a bad way) the two imperfections.Upon further inspection, I notice both cabinets are not centered. Also, at the bottom right where it aluminum is folded, it is NOT flush. As a budget shopper, I might return /exchange it for another one but the closest location is 'Out of Stock'. The next closest Staple location is almost 30 miles away. With gas at $4.00+ a gallon, a roundtrip would add a needless expense of $8.00 and waste over an hour of my time.If someone from the Corporate office reads this, I would like that person to demand it vendors to inspect and reinspect it products before shipping. This incident will make me rethink of buying products from Staples in the future.
don't buy it for wheels-

We bought this file cabinet so that we could roll it around the office. Once loaded with files the supports for the back wheels would not support the wheel.
