Comments about HP 10BII+ Financial Calculator:

This is a great calculator! I have never purchased a HP brand calculator before but this is the one that my professor requested. Now I see why it was my professor's calculator of choice! It is sturdy and dependable. It is neither too big or too small. It has every function I need as an accountant. It really has no negatives and was affordable. I can find nothing wrong with this calculator and I would now consider HP as a solid choice for calculators from now on. My daughter is in college and is studying accounting. She is using another brand of calculator. She has checked mu HP out and even she prefers my HP.

I like the setup of this calculator. This product was easy to use the first time. The manual that came with it was easy to understand. I think the buttons need to be a little bigger.

        Poor battery life

        By Brett

        from Salt Lake City

Comments about HP 10BII+ Financial Calculator:

I've had it for a month and am on my third set of batteries with less than one hour of total usage.

I gave up on the 17b series. I've had 3 of those in my career, each failing in the same manner. The buttons down the right side fail.

I am working on a designation and the 10bii* is the only calculator supported and allowed for the proctored exam.

The problem with the batteries appears to be the button design. Power is on the bottom left, and unlike the TI BAII(), this one has a soft cover. When the calculator is in a bag, or on a desk with books on it, the keep alive prevents the battery from going to sleep.

It is supposed to be good for a year with one hour of use each day. Not a chance.

If you have to have this calc, make sure to buy plenty of CR2032 online to get them cheap. You will need them.

My fix? I am going to superglue a plastic tab next to the on button to make it difficult to turn on. I might also put a cereal box insert in the case to spread the load in my briefcase. Both would probably help.

It should be this hard to make a calculator that people rely on for work.

If you don't need it for a proctored exam, the android equivalent works pretty darn good with some extra features. I'm not affiliated with it, and don't recall the name of the android app. Probably an iphone equivalent as well.

Description said it has RPN entry mode. I believe this is false. Otherwise it works fine.

Yay!!Even a dummy like me can use this!!

Comments about HP 10BII+ Financial Calculator:

Okay, so I'm not really a dummy, but the TI financial calculator I purchased previously sure made me feel like one. It was confounding. But this review is about the HP. Just like their printers, this calculator is user friendly & I barely had to crack open the manual.

I'm using it primarily for mortgage, amortization, and calculating financial ratios such as return on investment (ROI), return on equity (ROE), internal rate of return (IRR), discounted cash flow analysis and appraisal calculations like net present value (NPV).

My 13 year old son is using it too, for his algebra class, so this was a win win all the way around.
I heartily recommend this financial calculator.

        Get a better one

Comments about HP 10BII+ Financial Calculator:

-The buttons on this are terrible. About 70% of the time they don't register being pushed, unless you smash the button like driving nails. Very frustrating when doing anything, because it slows you way down, and you have to be looking at the screen for each button push to be sure it registers. Typing 123456789 will almost always show a random number that it didn't pick up. -No auto off. No solar. -The C and power button need to be reversed. The power button feels like it is where the C button should be, I find myself hitting power over and over to try to get it to clear. C is in an unusual spot.
