The product is great but the price for this and similar items is higher than most consumers would like. The necessity of having a printer fax scanner for business is a given. But even the average household finds it a "must have". The HP is a great machine but the price point on supplies still seems prohibative even when the higher output of these products justify the purchase. I would think that by now the industry could support lower prices on the supplies such as toner, ink, drums and paper. Other than that I think both this machine and this product off black toner are excellent.

Used on a HP color laserjet 2550,text comes out better than it would on an inkjet printer.However, it seems like the lifespan of the toner cartridge shold be longer for HP's claim of 5000 pages. I wonder if some of the toner is being consumed during the printer's initialization sequences?

I am constantly printing out loan documents for Notary loan signings and am a frequent buyer of this product. Staples is always convenient locally to purchase it and will order it for next day delivery if I request it.The cartridge is easy to install with no ink stains to worry about.I try to catch sales and also utilize my Staples points to purchase the cartridge.I also receive points from Staples for recycling the cartridges. The packaging includes the plastic wrapping and a label to return the cartridge.

Remember how you could shake the toner cartridge and have it print another 50 to 100 pages? HP doesn't let you do that - it has a page counter. Once it prints the number of pages it is supposed to, you MUST replace the toner cartridge.
