      Very happy with my HP 8500A Premium printer and the 940 series inks that go with it. For heavy users, the XL sizes are a good deal, especially with Staples Rewards. I'm constantly surprised by how long the 940XL inks last (way past the first warning on the machine).

      These HP cartridges are easy to install, but are very expensive if you print a lot, as I do. Also, it seems that needing the second black cartridge just to print pictures is simply another way for you to make additional money. Why can't these be combined? The older printers did not have a special black cartridge for photos, so why is one needed now?

      And one other thing: the packages are hard to open -- the orange bar is hard to twist off. And once they are open, there is no way to re-close them -- what I mean is that I made a mistake and opened two of the same color and could not figure out how to close the second one so it wouldn't dry out. Any suggestions?

          Save even more if you don't use Ariel font. Times New Roman better looking anyway. Print the document from the computer rather than copying to conserve inck. Print a multi color document every day or two is better than saving your ink and then having to clean the heads because of drying ink on heads. Monitor your purchases of the different cartriges and then do some basic computation on you expected average uses and price you pay for regular and extra life cartriges and you may be supprised to find that the extra life cartriges may not be such a good buy after all. The black is always for my usage pattern, the yellow never.
