I've had this dry up even before I use it and had to return it to Staples......and they gave me a hard time to get a cartridge that was full.......it wasn't a very pleasant visit......I left with no cartridge.........

Like most printer ink, it's not cheap. When used to print photos, the colors fade and when used on documents, the color will run with any moisture. Unfortunately, I have to use this ink because of the current printer I own.

Product requires replacement even 'though I hardly ever print in color. I wonder why I have to replace color cartidges when I print only in black.

I spoke with HP SUPPORT AND THEY SAID IT MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE SENSORS. They also said that my 7280 was obsolete. That still does not explain why I have to replace cartridges that I hardly ever use.

I purchased the higher capacity cartridges but they are not available in this color, so they empty more quickly and I have to replace them despite the fact I have not used them.

My problem is not with the ink cartridge itself, but how the printer omits using the two light-color cartridges and chooses the dark color cartridges instead. The light cyan and light magenta just sit unused until their date expires and I have replace them and they have been wasted. My son is an IT specialist and said the printer settings should not be changed, so this is a wasted set-up by the manufacturer. When I first got my printer I started out buying the multi-packs of all the colors, and got stuck with about 4 wasted cartridges of light cyan, so I recommend don't buy the multi-pack of colors. Otherwise, I have loved everything else about my printer and appreciated all the other features of the product.

HP ink cartridges are notoriously overpriced. I have the photosmart C 71880. It's a good machine but drinks more ink than a drunken sailor drinks. The cost to keep replacing the ink makes this machine not worth it! The only way to stay out of the poor house with HP printers is to buy aftermarket ink to refill your cartridges. HP protects against this (because they dishonestly make their cartridges run down so fast) by not allowing the computer chip to be reset (can someone out there make a device to do this please). So, you can use aftermarket ink to fill your cartridge but you won't get a read-out on how much ink is left...this is really annoying.

This will likely be my last HP printer...I'm sick of paying them so much for their ink when other companies are so much cheaper and offer the same or better quality products...
