Needed a fast black only printer that would hold a full 500 sheets of paper in the tray. Small enough to set on top of a 2 drawer file cabinet. Price was good. Replaced a similiar one I had used for 6 years.

I have two of these printers. I myself use it for 1000-1200 page duplex reports. If you are looking for dependable, fast and big volume printer, look no more. Great for many users trying to print at once.

Loved this printer for the first 18 months. Fast printing, clean and crisp output. Handled envelopes much better than a lot of desktop printers. But then the manual (envelope) feeder went on the fritz. Now I can't print envelopes (one of the big reasons I liked this printer), and even the main tray jams too frequently. Loved it while it lasted, but I would hope a printer like this would last longer. It has been used as a relatively light duty (business) single user printer. I have printed maybe 8,000 to 10,000 pages during the last 18 months. But considering HP's claim of a 100,000 monthly duty cycle, I would have expected it to last a little longer. Would have given it five stars if it had lasted longer. . . .

This is quite fast for the $$, but it does generate quite a lot of fumes during large print jobs. Perhaps they are more noticeable because it sits under at table right next to me so they get directed straight to me? Still love the printer.

They replaced two very old HP printers. We love the fact that they make no noise unless they are printing. Our old printers ran all of the time.
