I had to have this cartridge but the price mademe hesitate. If I absolutely had not had to make this purchase I wouldn't have. I have a clearer understanding of why people use the recycled cartridges.

It was easy to find in the store and easy to replace in the machine which was a definite plus.

It prints really well and the cartridge should have a really long life which will help the cost go down a little easier.

The HP CB540A Black Toner Cartridge by HP is a consistant product. I always find it on the shelf. I never have an issue with the product working....easily drops into place. I like that I can recycle the cartridge at the store. The cartridge is not messy...I have a nice rug right in front of my desk and printer and never worry about it. It is a mysterious contraption. You can not see with your eyes if it is full or empty. I depend on the computer giving me a pop-up message to know when to change it out. I hope it is really empty when it stops working...there is never a "last printing" that is faded. I don't like that the whole printer will not work if one of the 4 cartridges is empty. It would be nice to just print in black when my cyan runs out, but I have to drive to the store to get a cyan cartridge to print a black typed school report due the next day. All in all the product is fantastic...just a bit pricy.

HP toners are great--easy to install, good black printing, long lasting. My only wish is that they wouldn't be so expensive. Other than that, I'm a fan of HP products.

The printer for which this cartridge is made, the HP Color 1518, is remarkable in its output of color pictures and graphics -- the colors are bright, the shading is excellent, and the coverage is perfect. The black toner is part of the package and does well when in combination with the other three color toners. Used heavily for black-only documents, it can be somewhat pricey, however. Also, the cartridge is made to be easy to replace, in addition to being well put together and sturdy. I recommend this to anyone using color printing.
