My 4-year-old HP Pavilion died at just the right time. I bought the current HP Pavilion on sale. Staples' free 30-minute training on Windows 8 helped a LOT. Windows 8 is a big improvement over Vista. My only problem was getting my old Belkin G wireless router to connect. I suggest getting help/suggestions from the Staples EasyTech folks.

The computer is fine. It's fast and does what is expected. Downside, I HATE HATE HATE windows 8. That operating system is not user friendly, has a bunch of stuff on there that is not necessary and has to be deleted. I wish there was a way we could delete win8 and get win7 back without the huge cost.

Love the screen size and speed but learning Windows 8 has been a bear, not to mention that the OS is geared towards touch and swipe, which is not supported on this laptop. Would love this laptop with an earlier version of Windows. Sometimes newer is not better.

I love this laptop.it setup quick and easy. It is durable . It fell off the couch while it was open and didn't even turn off or break.I have always purchased HP products, because I haven't ever had a problem. The price was also great and we use it everyday , even our small children use it with ease. overall a great product.

I find a 17 inch screen refreshing for these old eyes. If they made a bigger one, I'd think about buying it. I use this as a desktop replacement and since I'm not trying to hack into the NSA it adequately suits my modest demands. That may not sound like a ringing endorsement, but at least I'm not using this space to hate on Microsoft and point out that the edition number seems to be inversely related to quality.

Windows 8 is certainly not an improvement over Windows 7. It's more cumbersome to close out applications, more cumbersome to switch between applications, and less user friendly. I much prefer Windows 7.
