Comments about Lenovo IdeaPad Z580; Intel Core i5-3210M:

After reading all the reviews for Windows 8 I had my doubts that I would be keeping it on the system and replacing it with Windows 7. I thought when I first turned it on that I had bought a laptop that ws not a laptop but a tablet with a display screen that folded. I was very pleased to see I was wrong. It is both a laptop and a tablet. It started up in the tablet mode or as they call it in Windows 8 the start screen. there you have all the Icons called apps. I thought how do I load a program and after playing around a little I found the desktop Icon and clicked it an WaLa my missing desktop minus the start button the only thing I found wrong with Windows 8. I googled start button for win 8 and solved that problem. The only con was that when looking at the display form the side you lose the image and have to look more direct at the screen. It is not as bad in the dark as it is outside in sunlight. I can live with that. The system is very fast I hope it stays that way.

Comments about Lenovo IdeaPad Z580; Intel Core i5-3210M:

This is my first 15" laptop in a while. Slightly smaller screen is a challenge, but I like the portability.

I have to have a numeric keypad for productivity, but this keypad has a single-wide zero key on it. Almost every full-size keyboard and adding machine have a double-wide zero. You have NO IDEA how many times I'm hitting the right arrow for a zero. I'm sure that I'll get used to it, but almost 2 weeks in, and I'm only slightly better at hitting the correct key.

I like the feel of the keyboard. The curved keys are very comfortable.

This isn't the laptop's fault, but I didn't realize how much of a difference 2" made to remote work (working on client machines remotely). I am FOREVER scrolling now - and just figuring out which scroll bar is the 'active' one is a challenge. Again, I could hook up a larger monitor if I had room, but I don't, so I'll adapt. Just something that I hadn't thought of. The laptop seems sturdy (thus far).

It is definitely good value for the money.

I bought this laptop last week and i am using it for a week now. Bought it from staples for 499 and it is definitely value for money. I didn't find this configuration (I5 processor , 8 GB RAM) for this anywhere. Windows 8 seems to be created with tablets in mind, so it will take sometime to get yourself familiarized. Keypad is good with lot of space between the keys, which makes typing easier and the clickpad is a touchpad which is stylish. Overall, value for money.

        Touchbad Makes Laptop Unusable

Comments about Lenovo IdeaPad Z580; Intel Core i5-3210M:

Touchpad is so sensitive that it makes this machine virtually unusable. The slightest touch or movement sends your curser flying, even after adjusting the settings, causing applications and screens to open and close without intent, emails to send prematurely and browsing to become an exercise in patience. I'm a long time personal laptop user who also works from home and am not afraid to try new things (this machine comes with Windows 8 - fine once you get used to it), but there is no 'getting used to' this touchpad. I returned the machine and purchased a different brand at a comparable price - much better.

I purchased this laptop for one of our managers and while uploading the necessary business software it performed quickly. The keys of the keyboard are different. They are spaced farther apart, which is good for those of us that need the space for our fingernails to keep from striking the wrong key. Windows 8 is easy to use even if it is not a touch screen. It has a sleek look, the cord 'box' is not as clunky as a Dell, but it does require a three prong plug. All in all I really liked this laptop and was kind of sorry to see it leave my office but I know our manager will enjoy it.

This is an excellent laptop, good color, perfect size for traveling. It is great for home or office. I was not planning on getting this great of a computer, however I caught a great sale on it at Staples. So far, I love it. Staples is offering a class for Microsoft 8 and I plan on taking this class to further educate me when I get a chance to get over there. I also love the fact that it fits perfectly in almost any laptop carrying case and with ease. Additionally, I received a lot of Staples rewards that I plan to use for accessories. I would recommend this computer.
