Hiking with it was durable without a doubt. You can not question the quality, it's excellent. But for a women like me 5"4 it's pretty big. I wish I can find a bag made for me that can carry everything like this one but less bulky. The bag moves with me wish is great but heavy. I don't regret it at all. And did very well in the planes top compartment. I just added a luggage wrap around the bag so the straps don't get caught on anything. And it worked perfectly.
