WARNING!!! We found several problems with this item: the locking mechanism is poorly constructed, it easily tips forward, and the file drawers do no sit evenly. Overall very poor quality, especially for its high cost. Would NOT recommend.

If you need extra storage and are on a tight budget, this is worth a look. Construction is OK, look is OK, price is A-OK. Main problem is that no load bars are provided so the cabinet can tip if you open the top drawer all the way. This is the only downside and it can be a big one if you have unequal loads. Not safe around children!

I have allergies and multiple chemical sensitivities, so I use this cabinet for clothing - as a dresser because of allergies to wood products and finishes etc. It works wonderfully for this as there is no odor to transfer to clothing or to out-gas into the environment.

I HAVE A SECOND BEDROOM WHICH I ALSO USE AS AN OFFICE. HAD A FIVE DRAWER CABINET THAT TOOK UP A LOT OF FLOOR SPACE WHICH THIS LATERAL DOESN'T. ALSO USE IT AS MY TV STAND. NEED TO BE CAREFUL THAT THE WEIGHT OF THE TOP DRAWER IS NOT MORE THAT THE BOTTOM DRAWER SO IT WON'T TIP.
