Netgear 5-port switch
from Las Vegas, NV
About Me High bandwidth user
Comments about Netgear Network Switches; Fast Ethernet (100BaseTx), 2 Dual-Speed, 5 (RJ45) Ports:
Bought this unit to use at home to add printer to my home network. We have 1 cat5 connection in every room, and in this particular room we need 2. 1 for the PC and 1 for the printer so everyone could be on the same network.Works great. No issues. Literally plug and play. Plugged into wall, plugged in PC and Printer, went around to other computers in the house and everything is working just great. Its doing exactly what is should be doing with no issues.

I have used these switches and similar switches many times before, and they are always cost-effective, solid units.

Netgear 5-Port Switch Works Great
About Me Low bandwidth user
It works great and it's built well. I just plugged in the cables and it's ready to go. No setup to do. So, how do you extend your network range that is farther away than your wireless signal can go? You use cat 5 cable and a switch in between to go longer than the supposed limit of 300 meters. At least that was my choice since I had conduit and ran the cable up to my house from my guesthouse with the switch connected in between them. None of the sales reps knew to use a switch to extend beyond the limit until I talked with a network specialist at Staples. I had gone to several other stores and they had no idea. Wireless would have been the preferred way, but that would be a lot more expensive and I already had conduit buried and cat 5 wire.
