Chosen because of Netgear reliablity

Comments about Netgear Network Switches; 24-Port:
If netgear is an option for what we are purchasing, we tend to go for it because of the experience we have had and the reliability.

Great value and Speed for the price
By Ross

This unit was very easy to use and plugged right into our system. There was no software upgrade needed and installed with no issue. The quality is what you would expect from Netgear and does not seem cheap. We saw an immediate increase in network transfer speed and network communication. We were pleased to find the switch is very small and compact, with an all-metal casing and a silent fanless design. Each front-mounted port has two status lights for link state, activity, and PoE status. There are two additional SFP uplink ports for optional Gigabit fibre-optic networking modules. The switch can be used as an ordinary 'dumb' switch straight out of the box, so it could make a sensible choice for those planning to add network management at a later stage.Netgear's Smart Control Center application is used for basic maintenance tasks, such as firmware upgrades. But the main administration is done via a Java-based browser interface (SNMP is also

This unit replaced a D-Link 24-port gigaswitch unit which for some odd reason went brain dead, but seems to be ok now. Since then, I had many co-workers say they've noticed the network to be quicker or more responsive with the NetGear unit. I agree, even though I don't know the internal differences. The D-Link is now being saved as 'emergancy backup only'.
Fast, reliable, easy to set up and use

I replaced a defective Netgear 10/100 ethernet 16-port switch with this 24 port gigabit switch. It was easy to install (just plug in the connectors), it worked immediately and I noticed an increase in speed on several of my connections. So the price was up there, but I guess if it does the trick and I don't have to replace it every year, it'll be worth it.

Great Switch at a Great Price!
By The IT Guy
from Birmingham, AL
This switch provided everything we needed. We were down and need a new one quick; this one provided that and so much more. It is faster than most of the other unmanaged switches that I have seen. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who needs 24 ports or less.

Exactly what I expected

As the other comments said, the fan makes it noisy (not intolerable at all, some PCs fans are noisier) for an office location setup, but having it in a rack in a data center or closet makes the most sense.
