The mechanical lead advance and retraction works smoothly. I love the very soft lead that came with it--writes easily.

I tried other name brand mechanical pencils and they tore the page and the erasers were too abrasive. The Pentel .9mm is perfect for activities involving thin newsprint and magazine paper.
I highly recommend it for any one with trouble seeing too, as the .9mm lead gives good lines.
I also like the mature design. Meaning, I appreciate the traditional yellow pencil color and chrome clip for secure storage in the pocket.
This is a pencil I would buy for gifts.
If you prefer a pencil that is easily recognizable as a pencil, easily reloaded, quality item...this is the pencil for you.

I love to write with the .9mm lead. It is soft and does not scratch as you are writing. It shows up well on the paper. It erases well and does not leave smudges.

Always found Pentel products to out preform and out last others. I like the 9mm bolder line for printing and have used it doing carpentry.

This is a wonderful pencil. I have used them for many years and love them. Writes well and works super with the HB .9mm leads. The only problem is that I ocassionally lose one!

I have used this pencil for at least 10 years. The joy of never having to sharpen a pencil and a lead sturdy enough not to break. Be careful though not to leave it unattended as others love it too!

cant find a better product except those definetly designed for drafts persons or a tech expert, A little bit costly but do not have to replace as it lasts and lasts
