I use two of these over plush carpets. After my stroke my dining room is now my (temporary) bedroom. While they do move a surprising amount they are not cracking even with wheelchair activity.
My standard chair mats borrowed from my office have cracked when used over padded plush carpet in my living room. Excellent quality.

Had to lay mat outside, in the sun, to get it to lay flat. The library-like chair I use does not slide very well, but this mat does protect the carpet well.

We purchased 5 of these matts for the office area and they are ALL severely cracking within one year! I would never suggest these matts for anyone's use!

Bought two less than a year ago for use on thick pile carpet. They both began to wear out within six months and now both have a huge hole in the center. Now I need to replace them. Would not recommend these for use on thick pile carpet.
