With a thumb drive you have the option of carrying the data in an easily transferable medium that can be uploaded to any smart device. The option of downloading music from others music lists make it a great item to carry with you or within near access. The unfortunate part is that it is small and often gets left in places that are somewhat hard to find. I ended up buying a second drive because I could not quickly find the original thumb drive. It should be noted that I bought the same drive that I had purchased nearly six months earlier. This drive has a sliding, locking cover that cannot be misplaced and keeps everything safe.

At the under-10-dollar price-point, this is a great device for keeping backup copies of everything from documents to photos. (Read the fine print on the package, however, and notice that the integrity of the stored data is not guaranteed! So, back up the backup if you're dealing with especially critical information.)
