I had to have my macbook upgraded in order to use Neat. But I was glad I did this, as the Neat product is really worth it to use over the long term of my small home based business. I scan daily and it really keeps my records organized and clean. I am throwing out all receipts at the end of the year. I would recommend this to anyone needing to organize and to de-clutter.

Scanner itself is ok for full page docs but store receipts are difficult to feed. It won't "catch" and then you have to really guide it through, and even then it comes out crooked and has to be rescanned. The software is terrible! I have been using it about 3 weeks and I have had to edit almost every single receipt. It doesn't get the name, the date and the amount is often wrong. It's a good idea but it really needs some work. If it wasn't past the 14 day return period I would be taking it back.

Need to be able to create your own document types. Example if I get a statement every month every time I scan it I have to ID every field every time I scan it. It would really be nice if I could scan my doc set it up then give it a name so the next time I scan next months statement all the fields get pulled in automatically.

I bought this product for my personal business as well as my husband's. It's been a 15 year battle for my husband to give me receipts used for his business or to enter them into our accounting software. With Neat Receipts, I not only get him to scan them, but the software recognizes nearly all the vital information needed to store and properly file receipts. Love this!

Pricey for such a small scanner, but you are paying for the software.

Sometimes it will not detect the information on its own, but it's simple to use and add manually. Just click and drag the required information. If that doesn't work either, you have to enter it manually, but it won't take much time.

I would recommend if you need to track receipts for tax or business purposes. Otherwise you might be wasting money for a scanner you might already have.
