I love that it shreds more sheets. Has a nice price for small office, yet I don't have to empty it as often because of larger bin size and the shredded pieces are smaller. I would have given it a 5 star had it been quieter. I can live with the noise. Haven't tested it for longer shredding periods.

Overall rating is very good. It is sensitive when filling the bin. It constantly has to be adjusted, shaking the shredded material down.

The first unit arrived in damaged condition, so I called Quill and they delivered a replacement unit within 48 hours! Later they picked up the damaged unit. That damage to the plastic housing surrounding the top of the shredder could have been avoided by better packaging.

While this shredder is unquestionably much more powerful than the typical home / personal office unit [all of which are also overrated as to sheet capacity], it cannot shred a steady feed of 15 or more sheets of 20 lb paper. But it will provide good service if fed about 10 sheets at a time.

Bin capacity is good. The bin is lighted while the unit is operating which enables observation of how full it is. The machine automatically shuts off when the bin is full, and never comes even close to jamming from an overstuffed bin. Emptying the bin is very easy. The only downside to the bin arrangement is that some of the shredded material falls behind the bin and must be cleaned out manually.

So far, I've shredded many documents and a few CDs and old credit cards without any significant problems. The shredder shuts off automatically when it becomes overheated which can occur within 20 minutes despite feeding only 10 sheets at a time. Frequent use of the recommended shredder oil does not appear to affect this limitation.

Despite these shortcomings and over rated sheet capacity, I would buy this shredder again and recommend it to others.

Let me tell you I have owned other shredders that I paid good money for, but they just did not last. I wish that I had bought the best shredder first. Now, I have learned that it is important to oil you shredder after about 10 hours of use. Do not use just any oil. Use shredder oil only. Compared to my other shredders; this Quill Shredder would eat them for breakfast. Absolutely, the top best shredder that I have ever owned. Don't mess around. Buy this Quill shredder. Why this Quill shredder even cuts off when not in use and saves electricity. Especially if you are retired like me, buy this shredder first and you won't regret your buy.

This bad boy takes up more room than I expected. Read the specs; which I didn't. However, it eats everything I stuff in it.. No longer do I have to rip off the address label on all those mags in our mailbox: I just check the last page number, and if its under 50, it goes into "hungry George." No sweat, its confetti..
And therein lies a problem: It cuts very fine, which is great for privacy; but fine cuttings seem to generate a lot of static electricity... Those small shreds filter out of the catch basket, which doesn't fit all the way to the back of the cavity; fill the base of the shredder, and require frequent use of a vacuum cleaner.. The problem doesn't stop there: Those small shreds are so statically charged that they become a real cleanup problem...
No, it has a two-prong plug and is not electrically grounded... That is a solution I'm looking at... Or maybe an anti-static spray..
Anyone have suggestions? I love this thing, but don't love living with it...
