Comments about Quill Brand Quill Plastic Letter Opener:
These are the BEST manual letter openers and the brick & mortar stores don't sell them.

About Me Quality Oriented
Like other reviewers, I find this rips the envelopes. I will continue to look for a better quality product.
Must be some better ones.

the envelope stops and jams at the apex of the blade, causing you to rip up to release and insert again, and again.
Don't last long

Worked okay in the beginning, now just rips everything up. If only I could locate the one I lost and have been using for years with no problems. Ugh.
Works Great

These work great. I have not had any issues with them becoming dull like some of the other comments. We have had ours for a year, around 10 envelope per day. The only reason we are ordering more is because they have been misplaced in a move, they had not become dull.I highly recommend!
Works great!

My workmate and I use this everyday to open mail, and they work great. It's so simple to use, and I like how sharp the blades are. I've had it for a month or so now, so this obviously works. Plus, they're so extremely cheap to replace whenever the blades do get dull.

These are far better than other brands
By Ted the Office Expert

These work far better than other brands of handheld, guarded razor blade-style openers that we've ordered from other suppliers. With most other brands of openers, the blade is too perpendicular to the paper, so the cut starts difficult and gets worse quickly. These have the blade well leaned back, so they last a good long time.Note: to all those who claim that these dull quickly, are you using a pulling motion to open the envelope, or are you trying to push the opener away from you? Hold the far corner of the envelope, and pull through with the opener. Any of these will seem awful and dull very quickly if you're pushing the opener, yet even a somewhat dull opener still works OK if you use a pulling motion. I open hundreds of envelopes a month, including many heavy kraft paper envelopes in the mix, and I seldom have to replace them. These are among the best of their kind.
NOT worth your money

This is the worst letter opener I have ever used. Cheap, and NOT worth your money. Rips 90% the letters I open; terrible product!!
Fine for the price!

I am reordering and have been very pleased with these openers. My current one has been in use since July '11 (now end of Feb. '12) and I really can't complain. We are a small business and I open an average of 50-60 envelopes daily and it is just now getting dull and only cutting about the first 2/3 of the envelope before getting stuck. I think they're a great item and at a very good price. You can't expect it to perform as though if was a $25 investment. They get dull - replace them - just like you would a razor @ home.
