I have been using a 5 year old speaker phone for a lot of my conference calls. After some people mentioning an echo, I decided to get a replacement phone with a headset. This RCA phone seemed to have all of the things I was looking for: 2 lines, handset, headset, speaker phone, etc.

After installing the phone, as soon as I joined my first conference call everyone noticed that I had a new phone, and not in a good way. I was using the headset and everyone said the sound quality was not as good. I was also having a problem in that the volume was way too loud. Even after turning down the volume as much as possible, people still could head the echo from the headset. I emailed RCA support and they said there was no way to lover the volume any further.

So, I switched from the headset to the speaker phone in the handset. One again, people on the call said my 5 year old speaker phone had better quality. So, I ended up disconnecting the phone and returning it to the local Staples. The positive part of the experience was that Staples's customer service. They provided a full refund with no hassles.

love this phone. it is extremely useful in my retail store because the phone rings all the time and the person with the headset can answer asap and it only rings once which is not annoying to the customers. the size is wonderful the sound level is great and the earpiece is perfect. the phone charged up right away and fits comfortably on the shelf. it has made my life so much better because we do not have to think about who is getting the phone when it rings. it was easy to install and simple to use.

This phone has every feature that I want. However the screen is too dark, lacks contrast (4 settings not good enough) letters and numbers are not easily readable without a really good source of light. Very disappointed.

Other people can't hear me when I use a headset. Support is not available via the web or email, only through phone and snailmail. Phone support has long wait time, and unhelpful rep. I stated that people couldn't hear me on the headset, but the headset worked fine on another phone, and they said the issue was with the headset. The phone has no way to increase the volume of the headset mic, and the preset volume is too low.

BTW, this product is not made by the old RCA, its a company called Telefield NA Inc who have licensed the RCA trademark.

What good is a headset jack if the mic volume is too low?

More importantly, what good is a warrantee if the company blames the problem on someone else?

This is a nice little phone with hands-free headset for the price. It is not clear in the picture, but the headset comes with both an ear loop and headset, which was a pleasant surprise. The headset is much more comfortable for people with glasses. The entire unit is nice and compact and takes up little desk space. That being said, the hand-set, itself, it pretty darned small. The display is often hard to read, especially the soft button displays which change dependng on which function you are in. The functions are not always intuitive as on other cordless phones we own - I had to read the manual to figure out how to check the Caller ID on misssed calls. The number buttons are also pretty small. This was purchased for use in a home office business which is done entirely via phone. We have ordered a phone modem and intend to install a dialer program to allow dialing directly from our computer (from excel) to eliminate having to manually dial the tiny keys. The sound quality on the hand-set is average to good, with the quality of the headset a notch or two below that. It's not so bad that it warrants returning or exchanging it, but I do wish it were a little higher quality on the headset since that was the main purpose for buying the phone. It was also an added bonus that the unit is set up for two lines. While our business has only one line, we can also connect our home phone, eliminating the need to carry two cordless phones if moving around the house. I would recommend this product with the caveats listed above.

The over-the-head set accessory for wireless functionality is great. My office has WiFi, and there is interence with the phone. Sound quality has an echo that is somewhat managable with volume settings.
