VERY DISAPPOINTING

About Me Quality Oriented
Comments about RCA 2-Line Corded/Cordless Phone System with Answering Machine:
There is a problem with the phone as we had to exchange for a replacement with in the first 25 days. After receiving the replacement phone the same problem occurred. There is a problem with the built in jack on the base for line one.I cannot recommend this phone unless you like to shop for phones as it seems to have a manufacture problem within the phone base.
Good value for money.

Worst customer service & phone ever
By Debbie

Don't buy this phone. I have never written a product review for anything before but this phone is HORRIBLE and I have had so many problems with it. What is worse than the phone, is RCA customer service - there are several notes in the instructions, etc. to call them directly and NOT contact the place where you purchased the phone from, so I have - several times. The phone needed to keep being 'reset' to work (all sorts of different problems along the way, including the volume buttons have never worked on the headset) and then it stopped letting me dial out all together and resetting it wouldn't work. I had the phone company come and check the line and it's the phone. I had to jump through hoops with customer service and am currently waiting 7-10 business days for a replacement but doubting it will be any better than the first one and just wishing I had just bought a different one to begin with and thinking I should just return to staples.com and figure out a new option. Ugh.

Good all around choice (4 & 1/2 stars)

I have a small home office. Since 2004 I had a two-line AT&T phone with cordless extensions that served me well, but they finally had worn out. I have tried several models to replace them (including the AT&T TL86109 DECT 6.0 2-Line Corded/Cordless Telephone with Bluetooth Technology and The Panasonic KX-TG9391T DECT 6.0 2-Line Corded/Cordless Telephone with Answering System). I liked the bluetooth feature on the AT&T, but not enough to overcome two deal killers for me: The menus on that phone were terrible! It was like 5-6 clicks through menus to see the caller ID. And both this and the Panasonic had no mute feature!!! Can you imagine an office phone without a mute feature? So I returned both of those and settled on this RCA. Overall I am pleased. I miss the bluetooth, but the cordless headset on this model mostly makes up for that. It only has 100 phone memory vs AT&T's staggering, 6000, but I don't need to have the numbers directly in my phone with my computer sitting right here, so I can live with that. Your results may vary. :-)I think the call clarity is great. The range on the headset is the same as the cordless handsets, so unlike my old bluetooth headset, I can walk around. I like that. It has a do not disturb feature, which I like since I have a home office. It is nice to turn off the phone ringer after hours. The menus are logical and easy to navigate, so this is fine too. It has both mute! and Hold! (It also has a transfer feature, but I haven't used that yet). I don't use the answering system as I have voice mail with my phone provider. So I can't comment on that. It does show me if I have voice mail though from the provider, so that is nice. Downsides:The buttons on the base are very "clacky". I wish they were more soft when pressed. You cannot tell it which line is default. Some of the other phones had this feature and I REALLY wish this one did. Down in my office, I want line 2 to be the default when I pick up the receiver. Upstairs, I want the extensions to use line 1. As it is, I have click line 2 first, then pick up. Bummer. Overall I am satisfied. I wish however that one of the many phones here had ALL of the features:2 linesBluetoothMuteHoldDo not disturb (with more programming choices)bigger directorylink to your computer to programSoft buttonsProvider voice mail integrationchoice of default line on each handsetShared directories on all handsetsquick access to caller IDThis phone has most of those, and so it is the one I kept. 4 1/2 stars.

A good value for a home office.
I would buy again with improvements

This is a good system for my office. It would be nice if the head set battery would last longer. It would also be better if the phone response to call pick ups would be faster, both head set and hand units. It does have very clear sound and I can go any wear in office or home and get reception.
Does what it's supposed to

Base unit requires 5 AAA batteries. Call screening feature isn't compatible with the AT&T phones I have in other rooms. So, if I pick up an AT&T handset while the caller is starting to leave a message, the answering system keeps recording and there's no button to press to stop it.
