I love this printer so much that I bought one for a friend. The duplex and wireless features are great. The manual feed slot is a bit touchy in its timing and will often draw the paper from the drawer instead.

Have this printer attached to my home LAN for use as a "go-to" unit. Was incredibly easy to set up on all four computers, and the double side printing will save a lot of paper. [I tend to print a lot of multi-page documents] Unit seems to be as little noisy, but that could just be the shelf it's on.

I own an earlier version of this printer (HL-2140) which has performed flawlessly for 3+ years. This upgrade brought auto duplex along with built in networking. Both work as expected (have not tried wireless). Loud fan spoils the overall SOHO experience as it continues to blow at reduced speed for several minutes after last job completes - even if only a single page. Sleep setting makes no difference. The sound would be hardly noticeable in busy office but in a quite home setting is become quite annoying.
Mechanical noise is also louder and more harsh vs previous generation. Only time will tell if it holds up. No problems with referb. Appeared new and was packaged well. Internal counter showed only 58 lifetime pages on arrival. Software suite integrates well with Brother MFC-J825DW (color inkjet); print dialogs are almost identical.

When the kids were home, the ink jet we had got a work out every day. Now that they are grown and out of college,the ink jet just sits, uses ink doing nothing and is clogged all the time. This networkable laser solves all problems. Fast, efficient, low cost replacement toner and drums, fast first page, always ready, never clogged. If I am doing a project in the living room, I just pick it up and move it, as the wireless keeps me connected. It is a bit noisier than expected but faster than expected, especially the first page out. Definitely a great buy. I always buy Brother refurbs for maximum savings.
