Needed a new printer to replace an HP injet that I had for years. The cost of the injet toner was too much for me so I decided to look at other options. Found this printer cheap and took the plunge. Wow! What a great printer and very fast compared to my old HP. I love it! The installation was a breeze and I had it up and running in less than 10 minutes!! It is not as quiet as other printers but I am using it in my office at work and the sound is not overbearing. I haven't had to replace the toner yet but looking online can see that it will be way cheaper than those inkjet cartridges. I highly recommend this printer to all that are looking to buy.

It is so far so good, but then it is too early to rate for this printer, since I just used it once or twice in the last 2 weeks.

I am a infrequent user to the printer and print only when it is absolute necessary.

My friend bought an exact same copier but new. My is exactly the same (refurbished) works just as well, just as efficient and 1/2 the price. I would buy it again. I also got a rebate and free shipping. Can't beat the price. Love it

Great deal (because it's refurbished) on a quality printer. Had several previous models (HL-2040), and ran them until they dropped. The HL-2240 is a worthy successor, with an enhanced feature set, and the ability to use a high capacity toner, which the 2040 did not. This reduces my cost per page substantially.

This printer is a bit bigger, and maybe a tad noisier, but overall is an excellent value for a smaller office (we have 8 folks in our office).

This and my previous printer were both bought refurbished; I've found refurbished printers from Staples to be very reliable, to anyone who's curious. I also own the Brother 2170, which is still going strong. IMO, they have pretty much identical functions. The only difference that I can see so far is in the dimensions, with the 2240 being slightly wider, but not as deep. As far as set-up and operation, both printers are super easy to install (plug and play on my Mac) and easy to use as well. Any errors are usually resolved with a simple press of the button after unblocking the rare jam, refilling the paper tray, etc. Like I said, really simple to use.

The only caveat is that it doesn't do auto-duplexing, and when I did manual duplexing a few pages came out crinkled. My guess is that this is because the paper isn't completely flat the first time it comes out the printer, which leads to slight problems printing on the other side. Nevertheless, I have no regrets purchasing this printer and expect years of good use out of it. Toner is also super cheap when you buy generic. Definitely a smart buy.

The price says it all.... I bought it for the price and figured it only reflected the bulkiness of the printer.... nope....

- every time it starts printing the lights dim!

- the toner gets low and stops any printing from happening... mean while, the pages still look perfect!! I"m convinced there's plenty of toner, but I guess I can't convince this machine!

- the paper cradle is flimsy and delicate and prone to being thrown against the wall due to non-submission into the printer body!

..... I"m gonna take it apart and use the more valuable components and probably get my money's worth.
