      Well, if you own the machine, you have no choice. I even contacted the manufacturer, and they sent me one from them, and it was awful too. I suggested they look at the Staples website to see how bad their product was rated. Hard to read on timecards, 8's look like 6's etc. Light ink on ribbon

                After going through several of these ribbons trying to get my time clock to print legibly, I decided to take the clock apart and inspect the print head. It was clearly gummed up with black ink. I carefully cleaned it with a cotton ball soaked in alcohol before using a toothpick to remove any remaining residue. I think a dry toothbrush would also work well. After putting the clock back together and inserting the same ribbon, the printing results have been excellent. Don't blame the ribbon! Just clean the clock. =)

                    I replaced the original ribbon on our Pyramid 3500 time clock with this one. I ordered it on 6/12/12 from Staples.com. I installed it as soon as I received the item and saw NO DIFFERENCE in quality or legibility. I did everything the directions and troubleshooting told me with no improvement. I figured maybe it would correct itself after a few days of use. That was not the case. I am currently # 31 in line to chat with a representative of Staples to see if they will stand behind a 2 week old printer ribbon.

                        My brand new ribbon I installed was so light you could barely see it. Maybe 1 out of 3 ribbons are usable. Maufacturer needs to revamp these and make them with ink that you can actually see.

                          Be careful to properly clean the print head. The lint(?) in the ribbon will cause the ink to be faint very fast. The company will tell you that you need to replace the print head at a steep cost or offer a rebuilt model. Just clean the print head - CAREFULLY - let it soak overnight is best. Love the timeclock - hate the ribbons but have had worse problems with generics.

                            I have two different machines, and bought new ribbon for both. Simplex ribbon was Fantastic, this Pyramid 3500 ribbon is AWFUL. Print quality is like a 3 out of 10. Needs more ink!
