I primarily use my GX6750 to write journal entries and novels. My machine consumes a fair number of ribbons, about 4 per week. Periodically, the ribbon is twisted (right out of the package) and it sometimes jams and snaps in two. Staples has always been very good about exchanging the defective product for a new item. I simply present my receipt. Once I didn't have my receipt and the cashier was very helpful, exchanging the item anyway. Brother has, I believe, worked to improve the overall quality of their typewriters and ribbons over the years. I would, despite the problems mentioned, still recommend the products to a friend.

This ribbon is brand name and works well, although it is now made in Mexico and it seems quality control may be a bit less rigorous than the tapes manufactured in the USA. I bought one package of two, made in Mexico, where one tape was pulled and ruined for a bit at the start but otherwise fine.
I have seen a non Brother ribbon that looks like it would not fit the machine, at least without removing a part on the tape cassette, if then. I would recommend only using this name brand product when ordering on the internet. All Brother brand tapes I have used worked well except some nylon ribbons on clearance that printed too light as those were just too old. The Brother multistrike ribbon is also a good product best used when printing from a proof diskette in a Brother word processor.

I've had my Brother typewriter for almost 20 years. It still works and I'm glad Brother still makes the ribbons and lift-off tapes because I type checks, forms, labels, envelopes, etc. The ribbons are easy to remove and install. Also, the typed image is crisp and clear. The lift-off tapes do a good job of removing any mistakes I might make.

i have bought the 2 pk of the 1230 ribbon and neither one advances after loading into typewriter. it just keeps typing on top of each other. this is NOT good!! I wont even attempt to load correction ribbon. I am just going to use lift off tape if I ever can type again. Not a happy camper right now
