I used this to replace a 1" hard drive in a TomTom. The drive was working, but I just don't trust a hard drive that delicate in a portable unit. I loaded everything from the drive onto the CF device, installed it and powered it on. The initial boot-up was only slightly better than with the Seagate disk, but once loaded drive access is much, much faster with this than with the Seagate. Also, there are no mechanical parts to fail, no heads to crash, and is a much better solution to something that gets jostled around inside an automobile.
