Westcott® Magnifying Ruler, 15" I was beginning to doubt my sanity. I thought I ordered a 15-inch clear ruler that magnifies small print, starts at zero inches and zero cm, and does not scratch. I was completely frustrated by inaccurate measurements for several months. Duh… Ruler is indeed 12 inches plus – not 15 inches. I drew what I thought was a “12-inch” line that actually measured “12-plus” inches (12 1/8th). My metal 15-inch Westcott ruler actually starts at true zero. Never before have I used a ruler that did not start at a true zero. Idiot me actually filed down the corners so I could get the actual 12 inches instead of 12 1/8th. I worked so long to change the edges to zero, that I refused to toss the ruler. And yes, the plastic ones are all scratched. It still sits in my drawer, but I do not use it. I have a variety of Westcott plastic rulers and Westcott metal rulers, and just checked them all out. Interesting… MY METAL WESTCOTTS ALL START AT TRUE ZERO. MY PLASTIC WESTCOTTS ALL START AT MINUS 1/8TH OR MINUS 1/16TH. I need accurate measurements. P.S. I just tossed 9 Westcott plastic rulers that do not start at true zero.
It's just a ruler, serves its purpose, but buyers should note that item does not match description. Item description says 15" ruler. However, this item is actually a 12" ruler. Even the image of the ruler (above) is 12". SHOULD you be needing a ruler longer than 1 foot, this item is not for you.
With that being said, it's perfectly suited as a 12" ruler =)
