Not very challenging

Comments about Evan-Moor Daily Summer Activities, Moving from 1st to 2nd Grade:

My child just graduated Kindergarten and says this book is boring because it is too easy. I'd say she is an average student, so the fact that this book is for students entering 1st grade is surprising. That said, easy or not it includes activities I otherwise would not be providing to keep my student sharp during the summer.

Comments about Evan-Moor Daily Summer Activities, Moving from 1st to 2nd Grade:

I used this book as a daily practice over the summer for my son between 1st and 2nd grade. He is struggling in math, receiving title 1 services. Over half of the worksheets focus on skills that are too easy and aren't helping him retain the 1st grade math skills. Many are kindergarten (filling in a missing vowel in a three letter word or counting up the ladybugs dots for early addition) The workbook is however engaging and uses a variety of exercises to keep him engaged. They cover a wide variety of skills to work on. I have supplemented harder worksheets in, to ensure he is retaining those 1st grade skills. I would buy from the company again, but will check out their other resources instead if these summer school ones.

My son liked doing his "homework" everyday. He wanted some that were more challenging at times. A few "extra credit" pages would make this product perfect!
