Lies, lies, lies...
By Fountain Pen Seeker
from USA
Can't rate below 1 star, but if possible it should get a "zero" star rating. Whatever happened to REAL fountain pens under $50? Even the top of the line model at Staples is worthless. I have used fountain pens for 40+ years. Someone broke into my office and stole my entire collection, including those handed down to me from 100 years ago. This specific pen is a bad joke at best, to be used only by those without any experience using a fountain pen. The feel, look and writing versatility of a fountain pen does not exist in this pen. If you want a fountain pen, look elsewhere. Oh yeah, you don't throw away fountain pens once the ink is used. The pens refill using either an ink well or cartridges; quality ink.

Excellent device
By Ted

Excellent device, good value, well constructed. Has not jammed after 2 days of heavy use. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. I like that it only takes one size staple, 5/8". This will probably add to fewer jams and longer life of the unit.

A Rollerball pen in disguise
By mrbobmac
from Orlando, FL
I purchased this pen (one blue, one black) to give an extra touch to my office communications. I write many hand-written notes and cards to help stand out in an email world. Ball points and roller ball pens are better than ever, but I really wanted to stand out.In that regard, these pens disappoint. The blue pen writing is indistinguishable from my Pilot G2 roller ball pen, even though this one costs three times as much. The black pen never "warmed up"--the tip scratches the paper as I write and as a result the ink on the page is not consistent. In both cases, the end result does not add any flair to my documents. I did purchase a $13 Calligraphy fountain pen and found the results more like I was expecting--a more "executive" ink and a better flair in the final appearance.

Stands up to school staff use
By Ozzie
from Hood River OR
Purchased for summer school program. Used by 20+ staff and still working! Biggest problem is making sure it stays in the work room! Staff make student journal books with grade appropriate writing paper and construction paper covers. Easily goes through 30-50 pages. Uses ONE size staple regardless of number of pages. This eliminates the constant changes and jams. Works better on 20+ pages but will do only 10. Very easy to push down handle. We're on week 2 of summer school and it's still going.
The only fountain pen I use!

I don't even mind that the Varsity pen is not refillable. The convenience and the quality of construction far outweigh the fact that it is disposable.
