My old HP was near death. Started looking for new lap top. Reasearched and decided that Toshiba met all my needs. Found $100 off coupon and a sale price to boot. Had Staples remove my old hard drive and install to this new one. Then had a tech come to my home and give me basic lession on operation of Windows 8. Still learning but I mostly use the 7 style screen. Battery life,about 4hrs. as advertised.
Runs quiet and cool. No complaints to date. I like the speed of the CORE i7 chip and the RAM 8gb
keeps me going at a faster pace than my old HP.

This is an attractive, fairly lightweight laptop. Windows 8 makes access to all programs easy and enjoyable. In addition, the large memory capacity helps with storing anything needed at anytime. The clarity and resolution of the screen is attractive and easy on the user's eyes. A truly enjoyable machine to use!

Bought this for my junior high boy. Thought at least will have him till complete high school. However, several keys stopped working after only 3 months. Called Staples, refused to repair. Then contacted Toshiba, agreed to repair but I had to pay one way shipping fee, they say there is no nearby repair center. Very disppointed that Toshiba's quality has dropped so bad, my hubby had one that worked 10 years before!

This is a great laptop that is easy to use. I would recommend it to anyone needing to upgrade. One feature I like is the speed and processing capability. It flies through graphics quickly. The quality of the graphics are amazingly clear. I was a little uncertain about Windows 8 but I actually like it since I have got used to it. The keyboard is very user friendly and quiet. The keys are actually wide enough which allows for very few typing errors. The design is perfect on a desk or wherever.

Microsoft crippled Win 8 with Metro. Installing Classic Shell brought back Win 7 functionality and made this laptop a bargan buy.
Now it boots directly to the desktop, control panel is easily accessed, and searches are convenient.
You will be deeply disappointed in this product if you don't modify the shell so that it functions like Win 7.
But you will be deeply gratified if you do.
This laptop is nice hardware.
I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the Metro issue.

I've been keeping my eye on Intel core i7 machines and found this particular Toshiba laptop on sale at a Staples store; it has the power, RAM, and hard-drive capacities I'm looking for. So far the machine has impressed me. It's fast, the screen is very legible, and it enables me to keep several commonly used applications open all day long without any strain on resources.

I've ordered a docking station to give me more monitor and USB capacity since I work from home quite a bit; most users of this laptop might not require that small investment.

A minor disadvantage of this laptop is its keyboard. I have a "heavy touch" and find this keyboard a little hard to get used to. So I purchased an inexpensive USB keyboard more to my liking. The keyboard and laptop used together, give me an overall very satisfying experience.

I had been skeptical about moving into Windows 8 for some time. But the Toshiba laptop has made everything a very smooth transition and has made the learning curve go very quickly. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to upgrade to a laptop that is just as easy for business use as it is for personal use. After only a few days of working with this unit, going back to my former PC had become awkward and cumbersome; proof positive that I had already begun to adjust to the new Toshiba unit.
